Developing fully worldwide interoperable solutions is considered as a priority by the Air Traffic Alliance. Global Interoperability between the various regions needs to find support on political, institutional and operational levels and be translated into action. Some regional initiatives in Europe and the US are the first steps towards this challenge.

Concrete activities towards global interoperability are supported through a cooperation agreement with Boeing:

- The Lindbergh Committee/Mermoz working groups which integrate current and future aircraft and ground
capabilities and aims to develop common positions dealing with ATM interoperability matters.

- Tailored Arrival Flight Trials with Air Services Australia & Qantas involving Airbus and Boeing aircraft

- AIRE (Atlantic Initiative to Reduce Emissions is a joint EC-FAA initiative launched in June 2007 and
supported by several of the major air transport players.
